Boat Rental in Kirkland, No Experience Required
A Duffy is the boat you have seen gliding quietly along the Kirkland waterfront, and now you can drive one. Our 21 foot Duffy electric boat is built for slow, social cruising. Top speed is a relaxed few knots, the cabin is enclosed and comfortable, and the controls are about as simple as a golf cart.
That makes it the perfect Lake Washington boat rental for date nights, birthdays, family afternoons, or just a quiet sunset lap of the shoreline with a cooler and good music. You drive yourself, so the day runs on your schedule. We hand you the keys at the Kirkland public dock and you are on the water in minutes.

Lake Washington From Downtown Kirkland
Launching from the Kirkland public dock puts you in the heart of the action. Cruise the Kirkland waterfront past the parks and restaurants, slip along the shoreline mansions, and take in the Olympic and Cascade ranges on a clear day.
Lake Washington is calm, protected, and ideal for a slow electric boat. It is one of the best spots in the Seattle area for a low key day on the water, with plenty of quiet coves to drop anchor, swim, or just sit back and enjoy the view. The Duffy moves at an easy pace, so this is about the cruise itself, not getting somewhere fast.
Duffy Rental Questions, Answered
Do I need a boating license to rent the Duffy?
No. Washington State does not require a license for adults to operate this boat, and our Duffy is a slow, easy electric boat. We give you a short walkthrough of the controls before you head out, and you drive yourself from there. If you can drive a car, you can drive a Duffy.
How many people can the boat hold?
The Duffy seats up to 12 guests comfortably on its wraparound lounge, including the person driving. It is a great fit for families, friend groups, date nights, and small celebrations.
How much does it cost and how long can I rent it?
The rate is $200 per hour with a two hour minimum, and you can book up to four hours. There are no fuel charges since the boat is fully electric. Rentals run seven days a week during the April through October season.
Where do I pick up the boat?
You meet us at the Kirkland public dock in downtown Kirkland, WA. It is an easy, central location with the waterfront, parks, and restaurants right there. We will confirm the exact meeting spot and timing when you book.
Can I bring food and drinks on board?
Yes. This is a bring your own boat. Pack your own food and beverages, and use the onboard cooler to keep everything cold. Please drink responsibly and keep the driver clear headed.
Can we go swimming?
Yes. The boat has a swim ladder so you can anchor in a calm spot and jump in on warm days. We also have a floating swim dock that we can make available on request at no extra charge. Just ask when you book.
Is the boat comfortable in cooler weather?
Very. The cabin is enclosed and the boat has both heated seats and a forced air heater, which makes it one of the only comfortable boat rentals on Lake Washington in the spring and fall shoulder season. Bring a layer and you are set.
Are dogs allowed?
Not on this boat. We love dogs, but the Duffy is a no pets rental to keep it clean and comfortable for every guest.
What safety equipment is on board?
The Duffy carries the full set of US Coast Guard required safety gear, including life jackets in adult and child sizes. Everything you need is on the boat before you leave the dock.
